Docker Swarm

Blacksburg

About this event

Why do you want to learn about Swarm?  We all know running containers is cool (duh!).  But, you probably want to run them reliably on a cluster of machines.  What happens if one of those machines goes down (accidentally or intentionally)?   You probably want those containers to start back up on another node.

Come learn about Swarm, an orchestration engine included within the Docker Engine.  It comes with a TON of great features, including cluster management, scaling, multi-host networks, secrets management and more!

We're going to be honored to have Russ Fenn speak to us.  Russ is in the Database and Application Administration (DBAA) group at Virginia Tech and has been a faithful attendee of our meetup since almost the beginning!  He has lots of great insights and we look forward to hearing from him (finally... no more Michael!!!).

Note that we will be meeting at RB14 (where we met last month) and giving it a shot there.  If you have feedback on venue locations, please reach out and contact Michael Irwin.
